And We’re Back! With a sweep by Stewart at the US Open!

By admin

The US Open always signals the changing of the season: Motocross to Supercross. New teams and new equipment make their big debuts at the bragging-rights-only event in Vegas and work hard to get the crowds excited for the upcoming AMA Supercross season.

In classic form, #1 James Stewart dominated both Friday and Saturday nights on his shiny new 2010 San Manuel/L&M/Yamaha YZ450F, taking both events and the over all Open win. Friday night was a “check out” situation in the main with James grabbing the holeshot and running away from the pack for the win. Saturday was a little less of a sure shot: Kawasaki rider, Ryan Villopoto, grabbed the holeshot and held the lead while Stewart battled Daniel Reardon for third. Once Stewart made his move on Reardon, however, he made quick work of the time difference between him and Villopoto. The tight track made for a good battle at the front of the pack between #1 and #2 bikes, but Stewart eventually passed Villopoto for the final time to take the win and the overall.

We’re looking forward to January and some exciting AMA Supercross action at A1, and if last weekend was any indication, we’ll be looking for some wins from JS7.

Oh – and while it’s hard to see past the shiny new bike, you CAN see a peek of the custom Champion Tool Storage boxes we built for the San Manuel/L&M/Yamaha team in this shot from TransworldMX:
